Great Gift Ideas for Girl Hockey Players

Posted on October 25, 2022 by thegiftsgiver1@gmail.com

Ice hockey isn’t just for boys! There are many girls and women who love to play the sport, it just seems that many areas don’t promote female players joining competitive teams like they do for young boys so here are some great gift ideas for girl hockey players.

Many children start playing at a very young age, but having a daughter who started playing hockey late (at 12 years old) we were very unfamiliar with how it all worked and what she needed for equipment as well as ideas for things she’d like off the ice. We learned that girls essentially need the same sports equipment as the boys on the ice, except a difference in pelvic protectors, and have similar interests off the ice too. We’ve learned a lot and hope to share some girl hockey player gift ideas to help with the upcoming holiday season or any time.

Some of the most popular girl hockey player gift ideas we’ve found include player equipment like headbands, custom hockey jerseys, mini/knee hockey sets, and some more inexpensive options too.

What about hockey gifts for girls who don’t necessarily play ice hockey but are still fans? We’ve shared some great gift ideas for girl hockey players or any hockey enthusiast below to help in the hunt for the perfect gift.

Gift Idea 1: Headsweats Headbands:

Heads sweat in ice hockey helmets and having some good sports headbands to keep sweat out of players eyes are a great gift idea for the hockey girl in your life. These Boulder Band headbands from Headsweats are lightweight and moisture-wicking. There’s a variety of colors but we’ve found that basic colors like black are best for under helmets, help reduce tangles and cover up some of the post-game helmet hair! These are a favorite so far.

Gift Idea 2: Synthetic Ice Tiles

Do you ever have kids shooting pucks in the garage or in the basement because they’re bored? Why not give them a better experience and help them build skills off the ice with some SYNTHETIC ICE REVOLUTION TILES? These are great because they’re light, yet high quality and you can customize the layout to whatever space you have available. And they’re not permanent so they’re easily picked up and put away! Fantastic for families with toys and equipment all over the house right?! We have a couple sets of these and they’re most often used in the winter because other than when our daughter is actually on the ice there isn’t often much to do in the long winter months. At least now she’s practicing her hockey skills more often.

Gift Idea 3: Mini hockey goal set

Winwell Mini Hockey Set

Mini hockey is a great off-ice past time activity for hockey lovers. It helps with active entertainment (get them off those video games and phones), skills and all around fun. This WINNWELL Mini Net Set is the most complete set we’ve found. It comes with sticks, a net and target and a ball. High quality materials all around means it will last through hours of play. There are others out there but this gets high ratings and has been a favorite in our house.

Gift Idea 4: Custom Jerseys

Ice hockey jerseys are a popular gift idea for fans of all ages. The gift that got the greatest response from our girl ice hockey player was this Chicago Blackhawks NHL Premier Youth Replica Hockey Jersey. The Blackhawks are a favorite in our house and getting her a jersey with her name on the back was a big hit. They have what seems like every team imaginable in adult and youth sizes.

Gift Idea 5: NHL Jerseys

Looking for an authentic jersey instead? Try Shop.NHL.com – they’ve got every jersey imaginable. Again, With the Chicago Blackhawks being a favorite, a Kane jersey had to be purchased. The Youth Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Kane Fanatics Branded Red Home Breakaway Player Jersey was high quality so it was washed a lot and lasted until she grew out of it.

Gift Idea 5: Custom LED Light

How about a cute LED light for a girl’s bedroom or a basement rec room? These custom LED lights found on Etsy fit the bill.

A remote control makes it easy to change the light color. Adding a name on the light makes it a special gift for the hockey player or ice hockey fans in general. There are a lot of options on Etsy.

Other great hockey gift ideas:

  • Christmas ornaments representing sports or other events that happened during a year can be a great gift. How cute are these custom ice hockey ornaments with your favorite player’s team, number and name from Stickbandits!
  • Soccer moms move over – look for hockey team car decals here.
  • Looking for a practical gift idea? These low cost gear stickers are an excellent idea: We have placed these on all her hockey gear and it helps when stuck in the chaos of a small locker room with 17 other girls and gear is everywhere!
  • Smelly hockey gear? Norwex® Sportzyme Enzyme-based odor eliminator is a safer way to help. Sportzyme eliminates organic odor from skates, equipment bags, chest guards and more so it is worth a try. We cannot say enough about how well this works and how great it smells.

In Conclusion:

Sometimes finding gifts for kids (other than plain old money) is difficult for parents or grandparents. With the Christmas season coming up, and birthdays year-round we thought these would be great starter ideas. There are many great gift ideas for hockey girls available today – these are just a few of the ones we like the best, and will add more as we go. Not all kids will like the same things of course – hope these hockey player gifts for girls give you a place to start. Next up… maybe some gift ideas for the hockey parents!
